About Me

I am Ali Mohammad Erfani, an Iranian photographer and visual artist with over 25 years of professional experience in various fields of photography, including social documentary, street, nature, macro and micro, and fine art photography.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Music from Sooreh University of Tehran (2000–2004), where I completed a thesis on the music of the Qashqai ethnic group. My professional journey began with music, and between 2004 and 2006, I worked as a sound supervisor and music producer for IRIB Shiraz. During this period, I developed a deep passion for photography, which soon became my main profession.

From 2011 to 2013, I worked as a photojournalist at the Fars News Center of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB). In the years that followed, I collaborated with several publishers, including Navid Shiraz Publications, contributing to book photography in 2017. One of my notable commercial projects was photographing the Grand Hotel of Shiraz in 2016.

My work has been featured in both solo and group exhibitions, including:

Solo exhibitions at Meem Institute for Art and Culture: “Bagh-e-Khial” (2023) and “Kolabiism” (2024)

Group exhibitions at Vesal Gallery in Shiraz (2019), in Paris and Saint-Germain, France (2023), and at national events such as “25×5” and the Fajr Festival of Visual Arts (2023)

In 2019, I was selected as one of the top three photographers at the Shiraz International Festival of Today.

In addition to my artistic projects, I have worked closely with the Biology Department of Shiraz University, providing macro and micro photography for scientific research. I have also led multiple specialized photography workshops between 2019 and 2024, including a macro/micro photography workshop in 2025 for biology students.

Currently, I teach photography, photo editing, and mobile photography at Meem Institute for Art and Culture and also serve as an instructor on the ShapFoto platform.

Through my photography, I aim to capture the hidden layers of everyday life and offer a fresh perspective on the world around us

Macro

Macro photography opens a window into the unseen beauty of the natural world — revealing intricate textures, forms, and patterns often invisible to the naked eye.

Through my lens, I explore the delicate complexity of small subjects, from insects and plants to scientific specimens, capturing details with precision and artistry.

My macro work combines technical expertise with a deep sense of curiosity, and has been used in both artistic exhibitions and scientific research, including collaborations with Shiraz University’s Department of Biology.

Every macro image is a journey into a miniature universe — where the ordinary becomes extraordinary.
